The Guild’s stand at the Historic Motorsport International show, 2017, part of the London Classic Car Show was surrounded by the stands of several of its members. More than 37,000 visitors saw over 800 classic cars on display at ExCeL London, with many ‘barn finds’ and in-progress restorations highlighting the importance of the Guild’s activities. Several companies, from restorers and engineers to finance providers signed up to join the Guild at the show.
Visitors to the stand included Martin Birrane of Lola and Mondello Park fame, who told us of his plans for Lola:
“I’m keeping the name and, while we had a tough time in the downturn, never say never – Lola is not dead by any means.”
William Kimberley, editor of Historic Racing Technology stopped by the Performance Projects Ltd stand, adjacent to our stand and said:
“It’s great to see the Guild building strong relationships with companies and also encouraging young people to join the industry, with initiatives like the Emtec College’s apprenticeship scheme in historic vehicle restoration.”
