Classic Vehicle Restoration Apprenticeship
The Advanced Apprenticeship Programme for Apprentices from TIGOSE
The International Guild of Specialist Engineers’ (TIGOSE) Advanced Apprenticeship Programme is designed to train and develop apprentices in a way that enables them to learn the core elements of their job role in an environment that is focused on their world at work.
The comprehensive three-year programme provides members with all the support they need to attract, select and develop the most capable apprentices, therefore helping them invest in their future, that of the apprentices and the classic car industry.
To assist, TIGOSE have selected training partners to deliver The TIGOSE Advanced Apprenticeship Programme including Emtec Colleges Limited, part of Central College Nottingham.
Jake McEwan, an Apprentice, Tells us How he is Getting on
Jake McEwan is currently working for JPM Classics and visits Central’s Emtec Centre in Nottingham on block release every couple of months, as part of his apprenticeship. Jake is building his career while getting a qualification at the same time, and he hasn’t looked back since he started.
Jake tells us:
“I did complete my A levels but I was working with cars as a hobby. I was really interested in getting involved in a new Classic Vehicle Restoration business, so I thought long and hard about the path I’d taken with A levels and decided the purely academic route wasn’t for me anymore. I’m a hands-on person. Some people are straight ‘A’ students, but for me it’s all about doing the job and learning through that practical route.
I’m really loving my apprenticeship – I think it’s great to get the qualifications alongside working and getting a wage. It’s different to your general automotive course because there are so many specialist skills involved. I’d really recommend apprenticeships to people who feel they learn more better and more quickly by doing something practically. I think it’s a good way to learn, and the qualifications can be really handy if people are looking for a job.”
