TIGOSE Member H&H posts spectacular sale to benefit the RNLI
TIGOSE Member H&H sold two rare Ferraris from the late Richard Colton’s collection for just under £10m at its latest auction at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford.
The proceeds go directly to the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) and shall be partly used to fund a new lifeboat to help the Institution’s volunteer crews keep saving lives at sea.
The 1960 Ferrari 250 GT short-wheelbase (SWB) Berlinetta, of which just 167 were made (only ten for the UK market) and a 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 were sold without reserve, and fetched £6.6m and £1,930,000 respectively.
Richard Colton wished for his cars to be sold by a British classic car specialist auction house – hence why H&H was chosen by his executors; this was indeed in keeping with the wishes he expressed in his will.
